Abstract Virtualization is nothing new in the field of IT. More and more companies are adopting the latest virtualization technologies to save costs and simplify their IT environment. With latest trends such as infrastructure as a service or cloud computing the first steps in direction of a full virtualized data centre have been set. This work will take a closer look on the topic of Software Defined Data Centre (SDDC), the technologies behind it and how it competes in everyday situations. At first a definition for SDDC will tried to be made. Since the topic is rather new the term is not so well known as the definition of it. Based on this definition two software solutions for a SDDC will be chosen which will be compared to each other. The comparison will be made based on use cases. Those are tasks a cloud administrator could face frequently. After both projects have been tested against those use cases a comparison will be made at the end of the work. Furthermore questions concerning licensing and support will be looked at.
